New Year approaches, which also means the Dakar Rally is about to begin. Stage 1 starts on January 2, and for those catching up, Dakar has gone through some significant changes. For starters (just in case you blocked out 2009 entirely) it’s nowhere near Dakar, as for the second time the rally will be held in South America and not Africa.

Motorcycle USA often gets story submissions, or reader requests for story ideas they’d like to see. But a recent email was a new animal altogether - the demo clip for a TV show pilot dubbed “Geezer’s Garage.” The name seems self explanatory, but here’s how the show was pitched to us:

My grandmother was a published poet – cowboy poet, actually. So I have a sentimental sweet spot for rhymed verse, be it the off-colored limerick, sappy heroic couplet or eye-rolling free verse. So when an email arrived with a link to a motorcycle poetry blog, motorcyclepoems.wordpress.com, I had to check it out…
