World Superbike gets underway this weekend at Phillip Island, and racing fans, including myself, eagerly anticipate the new season. Will American Ben Spies be immediately competitive? Will Haga dominate? Can Biaggi and Corser surprise with the new Aprilia and BMW machinery?
Certainly World Superbike has the momentum and a packed 32-rider grid, but MotoGP will also be in action this weekend, with night testing at the Losail circuit.

The roster for AMA Superbike, excuse me, AMA Pro Road Racing is starting to come into focus. After a turbulent off-season, rife with spats between the new Daytona Motorsports Group ownership and the manufacturers, new classes, new rules, the threat of a renegade MIC-sponsored league… The actual riders participating for 2009 seemed almost secondary to the boardroom dramas.
