Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Mosaic

Ah, the mosaic. Used to be they were known primarily as the decorative art of ancient Rome and Byzantium. Then some utter genius figured out how to take a number of smaller photos and generate larger mosaic portraits, begetting the photomosaics phenomenon.
Harley-Davidson has created its own photomosaic of H-D riders on The Motor Company’s Bar & Shield logo. Back in May the folks from Milwaukee reached out to customers during the development of its 2010 catalog. According to a recent email received about the project the result were photos “of enthusiasts, riders, their bikes, tattoos or experiences such as rallies, rides or concerts. This mosaic is truly a symbol of the passion and enthusiasm of those that make-up the Harley-Davidson family.”

Just one of the numerous H-D enthusiasts hidden inside The Motor Co's new Bar and Shield photomosaic.
There’s certainly a lot to look at while checking out the online version. Best one I found? Have to say a fella going by the name of “UgLy” – he’s filmed with a headset and parrot. I don’t know why, the parrot is intriguing. Very pirate-like. Find your own favorite at
