When Buell 1125R rider Danny Eslick had to pit with his bike literally falling apart leading the Daytona 200, it looked like another Buell racing effort might fall apart too. With a second round of the new AMA Pro Road Racing series in the books, however, the Buell’s fortunes have turned as Eslick secured the double in the Fontana SportBike races.

As if American fans needed more incentive to turn their attentions to the international World Superbike series, John Hopkins is now racing the SBK championship for Stiggy Honda. (John Hopkins to World Superbike on Honda) Hopkins’ talent has been unused so far in 2009 after Kawasaki departed from MotoGP during the tumultuous off-season.

Did we say Ben Spies might need to learn the international circuits before finding World Superbike success? Actually, it looks like the World Superbike grid might have to learn something new – seeing Mr. Spies atop the podium. The three-time AMA Superbike champion is making his adjustment to a new series seamlessly. Not only is he switching championships, Spies has swapped manufacturers and tires too. Not to mention a whole new paddock of rivals to gauge.
