Have Rain Stick, Will Travel

It all started out innocently enough. On one of my first press intros as a fresh motojourno newbie, it rained. Then it rained on another. Then I got an amazing opportunity to attend the
2007 BMW Motorrad Days and take a week-long
Alpine Tour with Edelweiss Bike Tours. It rained every day we rode – with the exception of a couple hours. And I mean it rained - buckets, cat & dogs, Noah’s flood type rain. There was the
Pacific Coast Highway Sport-Touring trek that fall, and then another
Germany trip, a year later. You guessed it, all saw a lot of rain, with a smattering of snow, fog and other generally muggy wet muck.

Tut tut, it looks like rain.... Again!
Now I’m forgetting some other rides that saw rain drops, and there have been plenty of beautiful blue sky rides – but there’s a definite pattern developing. I seem to bring the rain. My coworkers and colleagues from other magazines must roll their eyes whenever they hear I’m on the invite list.
Am I like a paranormal X-Files freak? Will Mulder and Scully come knocking to investigate? Maybe they should because my last two trips on the company dime, more of the same. Testing the new Pirelli Angel ST tires in Asheville, North Carolina. You can see for yourself in the photo how dry it wasn’t. Then the very next week, flying back to Asheville again, this time to ride KYMCO scooters, but not before getting stuck in Atlanta’s airport due to a deluge – a terrible one, actually, with massive flooding all over Georgia and a state of emergency declared.
Maybe we can turn this into a positive. Aren’t there plenty of regions languishing in drought conditions? Give me an invite and a motorcycle to ride, and I’ll see what I can do to help.
