Ricky Parker was the runaway winner during Saturday afternoon’s
AMA Pro Road Racing Supersport race. At the start of the 18-lap race it was Parker who shot his Yamaha YZF-R6 to the front of the field. When the riders funneled into Turn 2 two riders crashed in separate incidents. On the same lap two other riders came together in Turn 5, causing both to crash.
Tomas Pureta was running in third position behind Russ Wikle for much of the race before he crashed by himself on Lap 5. This moved Bryce Prince up to third. James Ripscoli shadowed Prince for much of the race but could never move his
Suzuki GSX-R600 past.
Back up front Parker continued to open a gap and would go onto cross the checkered flag 12 seconds ahead of Wikle.
“First off you can’t be disappointed with a poidium finish,” said Wikle. “The race started off pretty good got a pretty good start. I really wanted to put my head down and stay with Ricky. It kinda went downhill from there I guess. But I’m just happy I could bring it home in second.”
