Dover to New Castle

Between Dover and Newcastle you will find a variety of State Parks and Dover Air Force Base. Wildlife viewing is on the top of the list for this particular ride but maybe, you'll get a glimpse of the hard to spot F22 when you're riding around.

Description: This is the bird lover's paradise here. Along the ride you will cross a number of State Parks and animal viewing areas. In particular, Fort DuPont State Park: The park features 322 acres along the scenic Delaware River and the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. Open year-round, the park provides opportunities for passive recreation including picnicing, fishing, and hiking. If bird watching is your thing then Port Mahon Road is one of Delaware's classic birding hot spots: It is probably the most consistent place in the state for viewing Short-eared Owls and other birds. With Dover AFB close by you should also be able to catch a glimpse of some of our finest military aircraft in action or on the ground at the Air Mobility Command Museum (For info call: 302-677-5938) in Dover.
