Catoctin Mountains Loop

The Catoctin Mountains Loop ride takes you through the forest and splits two State Parks as you ride along Highway 77. The roads are fine but the parks are what make this ride special.

Description: This is a looped motorcycle ride that starts and ends in Smithburg. It will take you next to the South Mountain State Park, up to the Maryland-Pennsylvania border, east to Emmitsburg, and then south through the Catoctin Mountain Park and then ending back at Smithburg. Along the way you will ride through the wonderful Catoctin Mountain State Park and Cunningham Falls State Park which are located in the picturesque Catoctin Mountains on Highway 77. Make sure to take the time to ride up to both of the main parks off the highway. These access roads are twisty and the destinations at the actual parks are what make this otherwise short ride worthwhile. Cunningham Falls in particular features a 75-foot waterfall plus a number of designated hiking trails.
