Hells Angels vs. New York Fashion
Wednesday, October 27, 2010
Sonny, we have a problem. Death head = haute couture.
Plenty of blood’s been spilled courtesy of outlaw biker violence, but the Hells Angels are letting the lawyers proffer the beat down on Alexander McQueen. Stories in the Financial Times
report the Angels are suing over trademark infringement of the famed club’s death-head insignia.
A UK-based fashion designer, McQueen famously committed suicide in February 2010, hanging himself in his London home. Strangely enough, in the days prior to his death, the Telegraph
reports that McQueen tweeted about the "Hells Angels" line.
McQueen’s namesake fashion label is owned by Gucci. Filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, the Hells Angels’ complaint also charges Saks and Zappos.com.
