Let's Ride Motorcycle Track Days
Wednesday, September 21, 2011
On Monday I spent the day at the racetrack with Let’s Ride Track Days. Let’s Ride hosts motorcycle track days exclusively at Buttonwillow Raceway right off Interstate 5 in central California.
Having not ridden there in nearly a year I would be lying if I said I wasn’t just a little worried about the condition of the track as “Bumpy Willow” is known for its rippled pavement surface that has been known to have been a factor in some rider’s crashes. But to my surprise the track wasn’t as bumpy as I remembered. Maybe it’s because we were riding plush sportbikes (’11 Suzuki GSX-R750 and 600) but I forgot just how fun it is to rip around B-Willow with it offering a good variety of turns and plenty of run-off room if you do veer off course.
I also really enjoyed the way in which Let’s Ride runs its program with each of the three groups (based on skill level: A, B, and C) getting plenty of seat time. Another plus is that they give you free ice cold water which really helps keep you hydrated on a sweltering 100-plus degree afternoon. There are also vendors like CT Racing (Pirelli race tire distributor) and Race Tech Suspension to help you get your machine dialed in and fuel pumps in case you forget to bring gas.
The next event is this coming Sunday, September 25. Spots are still available at a price of $175. If you can’t make it out this weekend there will be two more dates before the end of the year. Check out LetsRideTrackDays.com for more info. See you at the track!
