Having had a succession of bikes ranging from a BSA M20 (at the start of my riding career)thru a Honda Deauville to a Kawasaki W650 to a Moto Guzzi 750 Nevada to a Royal Enfield Electra X I wanted something easy to handle and fun to ride as I approach the middle 70s.Also pillion capacity was important. The little Beemer fits the bill exactly. The road holding is good and errors are easily forgiven by the Metzler Tourances and long travel suspension. Even with the ABS off the braking still seems spongy and a bit indefinite , a more positive feel would be good. I have the twin spark model and it pulls from low down very well.Done about 5,000 miles in the last year with a couple of two-up long runs on poor roads - that is Ireland for you - and arrived fairly fresh. I wouldn`t buy a bigger GS - two heavy and ungainly for me -. If I did change it would probably be to Triumph Bonneville SE.
