Well since you are reading this, you are concerned in what you are about to walk into when you’re not sure what your hard-working money is going for. Back in 2009 I walked into Suzuki of Texas - a motorcycle dealership located in Hurst, TX - selling Suzuki and Yamaha motorcycles. Of course they make you feel very welcome if they know you are about to spend some money, then they light up and give you the red carpet treatment; I enjoyed that! It felt good…so good I bought two Yamaha motorcycles! Then I let them persuade me into buying the extended three-year warranty for both bikes, which added a substantial amount of money to the total sale. This warranty required me to bring both bikes in at specific times for routine preventative maintenance. That being said, things went well, until the warranty was nearly expired. My daughter and I were riding down Interstate 30, when one of the tailpipes literally vibrated off the bike. I heard the muffler scraping on the ground; I thought my daughter had taken a fall. When I looked back she was flagging me down. After stopping and assessing the situation, we realized the muffler had fallen off and could have caused a serious accident, had the muffler fallen under the wheel of the bike, or caused damage to another vehicle on the freeway. I went back to the dealer and discussed the warranty issue. They questioned whether it was something we did that could have resulted in the muffler falling off. We had no reason to remove the muffler at any time. To find they had to remove the muffler to perform maintenance on the bike, leads me to believe there is no question as to where the liability lies. I asked if the warranty would cover it; they refused to help, saying there is no way the muffler could have just fallen off. The service manager said the dealers are always changing out stock pipes for people wishing to customize their bikes; he said they always have left-over pipes and he would just give me one when it became available. He said to check back with him in a week or two, until he was able to find one. I did check back, time and time again, and every time I called I felt like I was annoying them more and more. Well, the warranty has expired and so did any hope of this dealership trying to help a customer. In the past I have used that dealership for any of my work, repair, or services needed. Well the buck stops here. I will not be visiting this establishment for any reason whatsoever, nor will I recommend this dealership for anyone wishing to buy a motorcycle, unless I get a call to come pick up my muffler! In the future I would like to comment that they did, in fact, find the muffler and notify me, making me a satisfied customer. Unfortunately this bike will not pass inspection without the muffler – this business should have made the effort to help me. Another business will appreciate my patronage. This letter has embarrassed me to have to write – to have to go to this extreme. How do you expect to keep your ratings, I ask you?
