I took my 2005 Gold-Wing in to have the front fork seals replaced at Galveston Honda / Mancuso Powersports South a couple of years ago. They replaced the fork seals several times. I continued to have problems and had thought they finally had fixed it. The bike set for a while until I recently started to ride again. As I was going down the freeway the left front fork seal blew out again. This would be the 4th or 5th time. Nearly every Honda dealer around had replaced those fork seals with Galveston Honda replacing them the last two times. Looking on line over the years, it looks like Honda just does not put heavy enough front springs in the tubes. That being said, I decided I would try and find someone else to work on the bike. I found an independent place to take the bike to be worked on. When the guy got the front forks off the bike he called me and I drove over. What I found really pissed me off.

The bushings were damaged; the metal retaining ring had pushed through one of the seals. The left lower fork leg had been gouged and both the inner and outer bushing was scorn. To top it off one of the sliders was missing and there were two washers placed on top of the seal. The right side lower fork leg was not nearly as bad. The incompetence of the person that worked on this bike is unbelievable.

I will tell everyone right now. You can buy a bike from any of these dealers, but do not let them work on it. I spent a lot of money on trying to get this bike repaired correctly. If I had to do it all over again, I sure would not use Galveston Honda, Stubbs or Pasadena Honda.

I went on line and found the Traxxion Springs and the Progressive Springs. Spend the extra money for the better springs and seals, find an independent authorized installer and get the work done right. For what I have spent on repairs, I could have almost bought another bike.
