It must have felt like April Fools came a week early for Maxime Berger. The Supersonic
Ducati rider logged easily the oddest crash of the 2011 road racing season during last week’s
World Superbike round at Donington Park (
2011 World Superbike Donington Insider). The nasty surprise occurred in Race 1 when he rear wheel sheared off just above the hub – causing the tire to roll on by and Berger to hit the deck. The French rider was at least fortunate enough to suffer the incredible equipment failure at one of the slowest portions of the English circuit. Photo below courtesy of Supersonic Racing website.
