SBK Classic Corners Assen Video

The third installment of the World SBK
Classic Corners Series pays homage to The Cathedral of motorcycle racing, TT Circuit Assen. Presented by the Honda World Superbike team the classic corner examined in Episode 3 is the Geert Timmer chicane. The final series of turns before Assen’s start finish straight, Geert Timmer is a prime location for overtaking maneuvers and last-ditch final corner heroics. It has also hosted final-corner heartbreak too, the most memorable, perhaps, Colin Edwards crashing within sight of his first career Grand Prix victory in 2006
– the Texan’s best shot at an elusive MotoGP win.
Assen is a particularly special circuit for the Dutch-based Honda World SBK team as its home circuit. The Ten Kate Honda squad is always a threat at their home circuit. Honda SBK rider Jonathan Rea
has netted four Assen SBK victories in his career, including a Race 2 victory this season and claiming the double there in 2010.
