My words will not be enough to describe what the Triumph Sprint ST 1050 offers an urbanite rider. It provide a great combination of in town driving platform and the basic set-up for a wide range of out of town excursions. Once deciding to bring a Triumph into your life, you can join the extensive rider base across the globe as a member of the Triumph RAT Club (http://www.triumphrat.net/)
If you prefer to do basic bike maintenance, the Sprint will offer easy to remove fairing components, seat, gas tank, etc for accessing the engine components. Oil and filter change can be done while the bike rest on the centre stand (standard equipment), air filter is located under the fuel tank, and chain maintenance is a breeze. Bike documents (registration/insurance), gloves, flashlight, and basic tool kit (included) can be stored in a lockable compartment on the right. Other storage (excluding the standard, twin, hard pannier cases)is limited as the muffler rests under the seat. On day commutes I usually leave the pannier bags at home. Otherwise, there is enough room in these bags to pack for a few days on the road. If you ride solo, a low profile over-the-seat bag can more then double your wardrobe.
Current economic conditions (2009) make this bike even more affordable and a superior value when considering the inherent quality, overall performance and life expectancy (drive terrain). Like every other motorcycle, the Sprint ST has a few bugs too. However, later models are being upgraded to include riders' feed-back. Reviewing the RAT Club Forums is a must, as it contains thousands of rider years worth of experience!!!
I give the Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (mine is a mint 2006 & 6380Km) two thumbs up. My search for this motorcycle took about a month including BMW, Moto Guzzi, and Yamaha. My search ended with a used Sprint ST (my first Triumph) and a great head turner everywhere I go.
