2013 Can-Am Maverick Unveiled

finally took the cover off its newest side-by-side during the Sand Sport Super Show at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Southern California. The Maverick 1000R is a brand-new sport UTV that is targeted at the existing Polaris RZR XP 900 and Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000.
Can-Am claims the new model churns out a massive 101 horsepower from its revised 976cc V-Twin engine. Other design highlights include Fox Podium X 2.0 shocks developed specifically for the Maverick’s TTA rear suspension and dual A-arm front geometry. Its new chassis is specifically designed but incorporates components from the Commander UTV and Outlander ATV. Claimed dry weight is 1297 pounds and it has an 84.3-inch wheelbase. The 1000R is also available as an up-spec model with the 1000R X rs.
Having followed the engineered teasers and some unofficial leaks, we were all expecting this from BRP, but the journalists and dealers present at the unveiling were all pleasantly surprised when Can-Am showed off a four-seat model as well - the 2013 Maverick MAX 1000R. Starting in February, 2013, the Maverick 1000R will sell for $15,999 and the Maverick 1000R X rs comes in at $17,499. Pricing for the Maverick MAX hasn’t been announced yet but it will be available in the summer of 2013.
