Dime City Cycles CB750 Cafe Racer Giveaway
Thursday, July 26, 2012
The fellas over at Dime City Cycles are busy giving an old CB750 the cafe racer treatment as the motorcycle will be given away by Iron & Air as a promotion for their magazine.
The guys over at Dime City Cycles
, Herm and Jason, are passionate about breathing new life into old bikes. Their shop is a throwback to simpler days, when going ‘Ton-Up’ on your featherbed framed café racer bought you inclusion into an elite club. And though building café racers is their forte, they’ve been known to throw in a bobber or two on occasion as well.
So it’s no surprise Dime City Cycles grabbed the torch when a new rag called Iron & Air asked them for help with a project. According to DCC, when Iron & Air publisher Brett Houle was shopping around for parts for a custom bike project they intended to giveaway as a prize in conjunction with the release of the mag’s first issue, Herm and Jason went beyond the call, offering to build the bike outright. So they’re taking what they call a rust bucket SOHC Honda CB750 and giving it the Dime City treatment. The guys intend on rebuilding the engine with an 836 kit, rebuilding and modifying the stock 750 carbs with velocity stacks, reinforcing the frame, adding DCC Original Clubman bars and more. The new “CB Speed Machine” will be given away at the 8th Annual Barber Vintage Festival Oct. 12 -14, 2012.
