Grand Marshal Jay Leno to Lead Love Ride 29
Wednesday, October 17, 2012
Riders lined up on San Fernando Road outside of Glendale Harley-Davidson last year waiting to make the ride out to Lake Castaic.
Jay Leno will once again be Grand Marshal of The Love Ride.
Want to know what Jay Leno will be doing this weekend? He’ll be riding motorcycles, that’s what. Love Ride 29
is going down Sunday, October 21, and Leno is once again serving as Grand Marshal.
Established by Glendale Harley-Davidson owner Oliver Shokouh, the event has raised millions of dollars for charities over the years, from the MDA to Autism Speaks to the Special Olympics. This year’s beneficiary is the USO.
In addition to the affable host of The Tonight Show, long-time supporters Peter Fonda and Robert Patrick will be serving as honorary grand marshals. The venerable Willie G. Davidson is listed as an honorary chairman.
The point of origin for the benefit ride continues to be Glendale Harley-Davidson, but riders will be making the trip out to Castaic Lake from 22 other Harley-Davidson dealerships as well. At the lake, George Thorogood & The Destroyers are the headlining act and will be joined by Canned Heat and The Strawberry Alarm Clock. In addition to live music, a Ride-In Bike Show will be held, a trade show will be going down, and plenty of vendors and shops will be on hand selling their wares. Winners of the bike show get a tour of Jay Leno’s garage, with Jay serving as host, in addition to a $100 gift certificate to Samson Exhausts, a pair of Pan Optix sunglasses and a Love Ride/Victorinox Swiss tool.
The 29th Love Ride
is this Sunday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’s plenty of fun to be had, all in the name of a good cause. Tickets are still available for $50. For more info, go to the Love Ride
