Victory Lists 10 Rides for Bike Week 2013
Wednesday, February 27, 2013
Victory Motorcycles provided a handy guide to '10 Rides to Take During Bike Week,' something we know a thing or two about. We've already done many of them, but found two new ones that really intrigued us. See you at Daytona!
The 72rd annual biker bash is about to go down in Daytona. Hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists will soon be swarming into central Florida to get their party on at the beach, cruise Main Street, do Destination Daytona and hopefully get some riding in.
Along those lines, Victory Motorcycles has come up with a handy little helper called “10 Rides to Take on Your Victory During Daytona Bike Week
.” So we went down the list to see how many we’ve done. Main and Beach Streets? Check. Ride on the beach and down to Ponce Inlet? Definitely. One of our favorite places to chill on the deck, get a basket of fried goodies from the sea, and drink a cold one. The Loop
? Roger. Kennedy Space Center
? Yup. Infield of the Speedway. Uh-huh. But never on the Speedway itself. Gotta work on that.
Have we ever ridden to the Victory Custom Bike Contest? No, but we’d like to. This year it’s once again going down at Volusia Motorsports Wednesday afternoon, March 13th. Got a custom Vic? Get it in the show. Ride to the Victory Reception? We did in Sturgis. Got to roll with The Gunny. R. Lee
will be leading the charge in Daytona too, Friday, March 15, for the Victory Riders Association ride and party. Good fun with good people. Then there’s always demo rides on 2013 Victory Motorcycles at the Speedway outside Turn 4.
But I did see a couple of destinations on the list that I haven’t done yet. One is the ride to St. Augustine. The thought of riding to the nation’s oldest city (founded in 1565) with its historic fort, lighthouse, and nature loop intrigues me. So does the 11th ride on the list, contributed by Victory rider Lori Dredske, who suggested riding out to the Old Spanish Sugar Mill located inside the DeLeon Springs State Park Recreation Area.
“It's not to be missed!” wrote Lori.
Check this out. They scouted the joint out and found this info (courtesy of our friends at Victory Motorcycles).
“She’s right. At the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill & Griddle House, located in the state park: “Each of our tables is equipped with a griddle and we bring you pitchers of homemade pancake batters and you pour them on and flip them over right at the table.” Add your choice of blueberries, bananas, chocolate chips and more, and add sides like bacon or sausage. Consider it added to our list as a Bike Week breakfast ride. Thanks, Lori.”
Looks like I’ve got a couple of new routes to explore for Daytona 2013. How about you?
