Low and Mean Customize Star Bolt on YouTube
Thursday, July 25, 2013
We recognized the customization potential of the 2014 Star Bolt
from the first time we laid eyes on it. Apparently, our friend Chris Hagest over at Low and Mean recognized this potential, too, because he’s one of the first to tackle the project head-on.
Low and Mean has been chronicling its 2014 Star Bolt custom project in a series of videos on YouTube
. We dug what they did with the Custom V Star 950
and know they’re going to build one of the baddest Bolts out there as well. And sure, the project is a way for them to showcase some of their products, but Low and Mean does it in part because they love the challenge that comes along with it and take pride in displaying their creativity in the public domain as well.
For the project, Low and Mean is actually customizing two Star Bolts. The first showcases what can be done by just about anybody with a handful of tools and the patience and desire to do things themselves. Low and Mean wants to show what can be accomplished without cutting anything off or requiring modifications best left for professional fabricators. It features items like a Genuine Star Motorcycles Lowering Kit, Low and Mean five-degree trees, new L&M fenders, chin scoop and the like. The second is more of an extreme makeover highlighted by an industrial strength Girder front end with air ride shocks. Chris and crew are aiming to get both custom 2014 Star Bolts done in time for their debut at the 2013 Sturgis Rally.
