10th David Mann ChopperFest Sunday Dec. 8
Monday, December 2, 2013
There’s just something unmistakable about a David Mann painting. From the humor portrayed in his works to his ability to paint images just about any biker can immediately identify with, Mann captured the motorcycle lifestyle with his brush like few can. Thanks to his tenure as an artist for Easyriders magazine along with a vast body of paintings, Mann’s legacy lives on long after his death.
It is this legacy that will be celebrated this weekend at the 10th Annual David Mann ChopperFest
. The party will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, CA, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’ll be there taking in the festivities, including an “All Brand Antique and Custom Motorcycle Show” with 12 classes of bikes, from Old School to Twin Cam to Radicals. Once again, Sonny Boy will be creating the cool collectable trophies. The list of featured custom builders is long, from Spitfire Motorcycles Paul Cavallo to Evil Spirit’s Michael Barragan to Kiwi Indian’s Mike Tomas. Ol’ Charlie Brechtel and his band will be laying down some licks to entertain the crowd, the Sugar Town Roller Girls will bring a bit of roller derby action to the show, and a big swap meet will be held. There will also be a David Mann art exhibit with some of his original artwork on display in addition to a special “Oil & Water Art Exhibit” featuring a long list of local artists in honor of the 10th anniversary.
Sounds like plenty of good reasons to jump on your bike and make the ride to Ventura Sunday. We’ll be riding up there from Long Beach and hope to see plenty of you there.
