Missing the Idaho City 100 this Weekend :-(
Friday, June 3, 2011
We have a Beta 400RR right now and it would have been an awesome bike in Idaho.
One of my favorite events is happening this weekend - the Boise Ridge Riders’
Idaho City 100. The two-day ISDE-format race used to be an actual National Qualifier for the International Six Days Enduro. Unfortunately, the 2011 ISDE is held earlier than usual in Finland. With Idaho City always taking place the first weekend of June (too much snow earlier than that), it meant that selection for Team USA needed to happen earlier as well. Hopefully it will return as a Qualifier in the future.
The IC100 is staged out of the historic mining town of Idaho City. A 100-mile loop features lots of single track and there’s no flat terrain on the entire course – you’re either climbing or descending. It is run in reverse on the second day. Riders can choose to race one or both days and beginners/women race only 50 miles. One of the best things about this event is that you can arrange to ride on the same minute as someone else. Racing with your buddies for seven hours is a total blast!
The weather’s looking good for the weekend as long as the showers scheduled for Monday/Tuesday don’t blow in early. It’ll be a little warm with temps in the high 80s. My personal schedule was too busy for a trip this year which makes it two in a row that I’ve missed since competing in 2009
. Good luck to all of you who made it. Post some pictures and details on the MotorcycleUSA Facebook page
when you get back so I can live vicariously.
