B.Y.O.B. – No, not Beer

Tuesday, July 26, 2011
Compression ratio jumps on the 398cc machine up to 12.4:1 from 11.95:1.
With the B.Y.O.B. program it's possible to customize your Beta dirt bike straight from the American importer.
Supplying your own suds is standard BBQ procedure around here, but Beta uses the acronym for a different purpose. We just finished testing the 2011 Beta 400 RR and while I was poking around the American Beta website I started taking some interest in the B.Y.O.B. program. Build Your Own Beta is a way for riders to build an enduro, dual sport, supermoto or trials bike to their personal taste. First select which dirt bike you want to start with and then choose from a list of available accessories. The parts are installed by factory technicians at Beta and then the bike is shipped to the closest participating dealer where the buyer picks it up, ready to rock with a personalized name plate. There’s no service fee and there’s a discount on accessories. The discount gets larger with the more accessories added to the bike.

Beta told us the B.Y.O.B. website will be getting updated in a couple weeks to make it even more user friendly. The new site will show costs associated with each part which will make it easier to build to a budget. It will also have even more options including tires, handlebars and grips.
