A Day in the Dirt Saturday Notes
Saturday, November 26, 2011
Today was the first day of races at this year’s A Day in the Dirt taking place at Pala Raceway. The crew here at Pala gave the track an overhaul overnight in order to give it a bit more speed and a better flow and overall they did a terrific job. A number of pros from past and present came out today including Josh Grant, who just signed with The newly formed Jeff Ward racing team that’s competing on ’12 Kawasaki KX450Fs. The King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath was also racing. But the man who got the most attention was Doug Henry. Henry was paralyzed in a supermoto crash a few years ago is racing a modified Yamaha YZ450F. Despite his disability, Henry is still an absolute animal. He raced virtually every class and was shredding passing many riders (myself included). Words can’t even describe how gnarly bad-ass Henry is so props to him for being such a hero and inspiration to us common folk. Lastly, shout out to MotoUSA test rider, Scott Simon for beating... yes beating The King in the pro/am race! A number of classes are still open so if you’re in the San Diego, California area you should definitely come out and have a race!
