2011 SCORE Baja 1000 – Wish I was There

JCR Honda leads the charge as defending champions.
The 44th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is ramping up in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico for the fifth and final round of the SCORE Desert Series. This year the course is 692.82 miles and 273 total entries have signed up to take the challenge. Motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, buggies and trucks from stock to unlimited mods are representing 34 states and 16 countries.
At the helm are the dual JCR Honda teams of Kendal Norman/Quinn Cody and Colton Udall/David Kamo/Timmy Weigand. These two squads are historically some of the fastest, wisest and most cunning Baja racers in the world. Led by 10-time Baja 1000 champion, Johnny Campbell, the factory supported Red Riders have been preparing for the annual event like nobody’s business. Eric Siraton builds the CRF450X race bikes, the same guy who prepped our XR650 when MotoUSA went to
Hell and Back.
“The challenge and adventure of racing the Baja 1000 is impossible to compare to anything else,” says legendary Baja champion, Campbell. “To win you need to be tougher, faster and more prepared than everyone else. That’s why the Baja 1000 is the ultimate proving ground for man and machine. We are proud of the brands that work with us all year long and this is our opportunity to once again prove that they are the best.”
Friday at 6:30 a.m., the Pro motorcycles will take off at 30-second intervals and lead the massive wave of horsepower and rubber into the desert. Watch MotorcycleUSA.com to see who wins and who fails miserably in one of the hardest races on Earth.
