A Closer Look at the 2014 CRF450 Rally
Friday, January 3, 2014
Honda built a Rally prototype for the 2013 Dakar Rally
and in the subsequent year since Big Red’s return to the grueling race has revamped the platform, creating an even more competitive machine for 2014. The CRF450 Rally features an entirely new engine for 2014, a new chassis, swingarm, plastics and increased fuel capacity thanks to three tanks located throughout the bike. The new CRF450 Rally has already proven itself capable of winning as evinced by Paulo Goncalves’ victory in the Rally of Morocco in October 2013 and the Merzouga Rally win achieved by Sam Sunderland in the same month. Team HRC is looking to dethrone long-time Dakar champion, KTM, in South America this year. Check out the video below to see the new machine in action and to hear from Team HRC Director Katsumi Yamazaki for the full scoop on the bike. Are KTM’s days at the top of the Dakar leaderboard numbered?
