For the past month, Monster Energy's Destry Abbott has been battling the flu, but the Kawasaki star still managed to finish second in the Hare & Hound race.

After battling for first most of the race, Abbott found himself in second with 20 miles to go. He couldn’t see the leader anymore, but kept the pace up to the finish.

Abbott was surprised by the reception as he crossed the finish line, not knowing he had won.

“This season has been a tough one for me physically,” said Abbott. “I was really sick for the first two races and have ridden with a hurt shoulder the last two races. I’m so happy to be in the position I am in with the points, all things considered.”
