Motorcycle USA media partner, Cycle News, takes a look at the recent showdown at RedBud in Round 6 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in its latest issue. Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey relentlessly extended his points lead, taking the holeshot in both motos and pulling huge gaps on the way to his fourth consecutive overall victory. Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart returned to the fray and took third overall, but lacked the commanding form he opened the season with, going 6-3. Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett had to fight a bit more than Dungey for his dual moto wins in the 250 class, posting another come-from-behind victory in Moto 1. In Moto 2 Baggett got off to one of his best starts of the season and then tipped over, giving Geico Honda’s Justin Barcia an opening to the front, but BB remounted and quickly regained the lead, earning his third overall victory of the season. In Moto GP action, Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa took his first win of the season in the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring. Teammate Casey Stoner battled with Pedrosa for the lead up to the final turns of the last lap then lost grip and slid off the track within sight of the checkers. Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo moved up to second and regained the outright points lead. In other racing news, Jared Mees took his first win of 2012 at the Hagerstown Half-Mile in the AMA Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Flat Track Championship and droves of off-road riders faced-off in the Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross Week. Additionally, 2012 AMA/NATC National MotoTrial Champion Patrick Smage sits down to talk about winning his fifth trials title.
