Dirt Bike Badass on The Colbert Report
Friday, April 06, 2012
Dirt bike riders got a bit of glorified national attention on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report last night. Host Stephen Colbert recorded a video during his morning commute of a motorcyclist doing wheelies through the Lincoln Tunnel, calling the dual sport rider a “dirt bike badass.” He went on to explain how the free spirit of poppin’ wheelies is the type of attitude that defines America.
“Clearly America is back, ladies and gentlemen," Colbert says. "This huge, huge balls, stick-it-to-the-man, live-free-or-die attitude has been a vital part of this country ever since George Washington jumped the Delaware.”
Of course we’ll be seeing comments about the reckless behavior, illegal driving maneuvers and such. They’ll come from every auto driver who is pissed off that motorcycles are cooler than their cars. They’ll come from the hoity-toities of the motorcycle community. The AMA will feel the need to distribute a press release on the subject. Hell, I’ll probably get blasted for blogging because I’m “propagating a bad image.” But, whatever. We’ve all done it at some point, and at least the ATGATT crowd can’t complain. For one day (probably every day, actually) this guy lives life a little fuller than most.
