Thursday, July 26, 2012
Alex Harvill, a 19-year-old, has set a new record for motorcycle distance jumping with a 425-foot launch that took place on May 12 in Royal City, Washington. Harvill is an amateur motocross
racer who finds himself in the company of Ryan Capes and Robbie Maddison, the two most recent jumpers battling for long-range supremacy.
According to Steve Eilers, operator of the Toes MX Park where the jump took place, Harvill is likely capable of setting new records, possibly even 500 feet. The jump was filmed by Jay Schweitzer of Powerband Films and Mike McEntire of Mack Dawg Productions. Watch for it to make their forthcoming documentary The Daredevil Project due out in 2013.
