Team USA stands on the podium during opening ceremonies for the 2009 ISDE in Portugal.
Team USA has officially begun its bid for the 2009 Maxxis FIM International Six Days Enduro title in Figueira da Foz, Portugal! The Trophy Team consists of Ricky Dietrich, Kurt Caselli, Destry Abbott, Nathan Kanney, Damon Huffman and Timmy Weigand. Everything showed up on time and all the riders were able to enter the first day of competition (today) well-prepared and healthy. You can keep track of the race action with live scoring at this
website. Scanning the special test results, is looks like America had a shaky start.
While you’re at it, keep your eyes on the result sheets for one Chilly White. Chilly Willy is representing MotoUSA with our
Honda CRF450X ISDE Project Bike. We haven’t heard from him yet, but the charts show he dropped over eight minutes over the course of the day. Hopefully our former silver-medalist will get into a groove tomorrow and the rest of the week and start clawing his way forward in the rankings. The Honda is new to him as is Portugal, but our vet test rider has loads of experience in dusty, rocky, sandy terrain here in the States and abroad, so it’s just a matter of time before he starts rockin’ da Foz.
America conquered all in the
Motocross des Nations a couple weeks ago, but our off-road stars have an even tougher row to hoe. The Europeans are notoriously badass at the enduro format, but this looks to be our best chance ever at claiming victory. Watch for ongoing coverage here at MCUSA.com and rip through Chilly's blogs on the
ISDE page to get a feel for this awesome event.
