Bondo Needs Bondo – Bobby Bonds Injured
Monday, February 15, 2010
Bobby Bonds is a top
WORCS racer who’s back on the privateer trail this season. Bondo went back to his moto roots and has been contesting the
Supercross class when he’s not hammering the two-hour WORCS events. Bonds scored 15th in the San Diego SX main event. Unfortunately, that came to an abrupt end at Anaheim 3. His Maxxis/Confused Clothing/Warthog
Kawasaki KX450F found neutral on a triple and he transferred directly from the heat race to the medical tent with a broken collarbone.
"This is something I definitely hate is when accidents happen over simple obstacles,” said Bonds in a press release. “I was having fun doing these Supercross on my off time from WORCS and making money at it as well. I'm just bummed for my sponsors and myself. I felt I had this year dialed in, and while Round #1 was a fluke with the fuel issue, I felt I had a decent shot to bounce back and remain consistent with the rest of the season. Now, with the collarbone, I might be out until at least Round 4 (Adelanto, Ca).
Bonds finished the
WORCS opener at Phoenix in 23rd after having worked his way to fifth place and climbing, but the aforementioned fuel problem dropped him back. Round 2 is on February 27-28 at Primm, Nevada. Watch for pre-injury footage of the Number 129 Kawasaki in this video of the Phoenix race, courtesy of RTP.
