Jammin’ Jimmy Back in Racing Action

Hall of Famer, Jimmy Weinert is returning to the professional racing circuit with a new team. With backing from Kawasaki, riders John Dowd, Robby Marshall, Sethro Rarick and Ray Leybovich will carry the flag for Jimmy Weinert Racing. Marshall will be making his 450 Supercross debut this weekend at Atlanta.

Along with Kawi, other team sponsors include Jet Boots, Maxima, Crower Power Performance, Renthal, Rad Mfg, Fox Shox, Fly Clothing, KPS Suspension, Dunlop, Mechanix Wear, Cycle Motion, DeCal Works, Hinson Racing and BBR Motorsports.

Jimmy was inducted to the Motorcycle HoF in 1999 as the 1974 and ’75 AMA 500cc Motocross champion and 1976 AMA Supercross champion. He was also the first American to win a Trans-Am race.

I remember watching Weinert win in the Oakland Coliseum (I think that was the venue). He had on a rear paddle tire and kept roosting the competition. Awesome race by one of my old heros.
