Lead Ban and Lazy Motorcycle Riders

Lead ban proves we’re all guilty of being lazy sometimes.

Yes, we take our jobs very seriously, but that doesn't mean we don't goof around. Sometimes we need to stop goofing and start writing.
This horse isn’t dead yet, but I’m looking for a cliché here so let’s beat on this thing some more. You’ve all probably heard about the new lead ban that’s effective starting Feb 10. If not then you should
read our article about it and research some of the press releases elsewhere on our site by entering “CPSC” in our search box.
It’s kind of funny, really. I went through all the effort of researching the law, writing the MIC for some clarification and asking co-workers to track down quotes and help edit the article. But it wasn’t until a couple days after posting it that someone gave kudos for the support letter option and I realized I hadn’t even taken my own advice. The cut-and-paste directions can be found in the sidebar if you
go to the story. It was a perfect example of how easy it is to get wrapped up in everyday stuff and not make the effort. I do it all the time, but enthusiasts need to stop thinking and talking about issues and actually do something, even as simple as a generic support letter – we’re talking 30 seconds here, people.
We like the idea of making things easy on ourselves so we’ll try to do more of these letters and other self-help options for the OHV community. If you have ideas, personal experience or have witnessed some slick way to get people involved, feel free to share it with us at
info@motorcycle-usa.com.
Now quit being a weenie like I was and
go write a letter about the lead ban. It’s time to practice what we’re preaching so I’m off to add my voice to the mix.
