Catch Britain's Best Bike Racer in Action on the Thundersprint Track
MotoGP star and former World Superbike Champion James Toseland will be one of the feature attractions at Thundersprint 2009, one of Britain's premier motorcycling events.
James Toseland, double World Champion, and current MotoGP superstar, will be swapping the glamour of the international race paddock for Northwich's very own Grand Prix in a Car Park - the truly unique Thundersprint held over the weekend of May 9/10 in Northwich town centre.
James, who currently rides for the Yamaha factory supported Tech 3 team, said: "I'm really looking forward to taking part in the Thundersprint for the first time. I've heard such a lot about it but I've never had the pleasure of being involved.
"It will be great to just relax on a motorcycle and ride for fun. I am incredibly lucky to have a career in motorcycle racing, and I love racing in MotoGP with Tech 3 Yamaha, but it will be nice to get on to two wheels and not have to worry about what everyone else around me is doing - and who is putting in faster times!"
Thundersprint organiser, Frank Melling, is delighted with the thought of having "JT" at the Thundersprint. Melling said: "We have been very fortunate to have some of the very finest motorcycle racers in the world take part in the Thundersprint but to have one of the current superstars of racing with us will be brilliant.
"As double World Champion, James knows all about big crowds but I expect even him to be surprised how many Thundersprint fans will pack into Northwich town centre to cheer him on.
"James will be everywhere at the Thundersprint, from the paddock to the track, and he's also riding in the cavalcade, so there will be lots of opportunities to meet him personally.
"The important thing for us is that James has a good time during the whole Thundersprint weekend. He will be starring with his band "Crash" at Northwich Memorial Hall on the evening before the Thundersprint. Then, on the Sunday, he'll be having a lot of fun on the track and meeting his many tens of thousands of fans.
"It's going to be a great weekend for everyone."
