A day in the life of Jeremy McGrath.

Honda introduced the 2011 CRF450R at Jeremy McGrath's private ranch in Southern California.
Honda prepped a herd of 2011
Honda CRF450R motocross bikes and pulled together the motorcycle media -
sans Cycle News reps :( - for a day of riding. But it wasn’t just your average day of MX. Big Red invited us out to possibly the coolest place on the planet – Jeremy McGrath’s private ranch. Located near the Anza-Borrego desert, MC has a retreat for his family that is awesome. His personal motocross track was the focus of our day where we spun laps on the interesting dirt with the lightly revised CRF450R. The layout was very fun and safe and the dirt was a soft, sand/silt composition that was difficult when dry, but amazing with a healthy dose of water. Honda kept the track damp all day so it was nothing but smooth sailing and good times with the latest open-class offering from Big Red.
Once the riding was done we were able to sample some of the other facets of Jeremy’s desert hideout.
Team Associated brought out a slew of race-ready electric RC trucks, similar to the full-size ones Jeremy races, for us to blast around on. MC’s mini dirt bike track was converted for the purpose and we bashed the high-performance toys with reckless abandon during team races and individual heats. Eventually it devolved into a freestyle/crash derby. I can’t believe how durable they are! As it turns out, MotoUSA pro tester, Damon Huffman, is quite the driver. A self-proclaimed OG of RC cars, H-Diddy claims not to have driven for a decade, but his skills at the trigger are almost as impressive as his skills on a motocross bike. Big thanks to the Associated crew for letting us smash their stuff, encouraging us all the while. They’re a cool bunch of dudes and if you’ve never played around with one of these new RC units, check them out because they’re much more fun than I expected.

I switched betwen a 12-guage and a .410 but couldn't hit anything with either shotgun.
After that it was off to the golf driving range for an impromptu session. Again, Huff showed everyone up. Did this guy ever work, or just play around his whole life? I thought I had something for him once the group moved down to the lower field for some skeet shooting. Finally our ringer showed his weakness, but I couldn’t hit anything either. But a couple of the Honda guys are handy with the steel.
Thanks to Jeremy and his family for opening up their home to all the journalists. As the most prolific Supercross racer of all time and one of the best ambassadors ever for our sport, MC has certainly earned it. Moto our brains out on a bitchin’ track, bash RC cars, shoot stuff, drive golf balls and maw carne asada BBQ – that’s one hell of a day. As they say, it’s good to be King.
