Is this the face of someone who poisons children with lead?
People are getting really pissed off about this whole lead ban issue, and rightfully so. But when the government slaps us with restrictions, it’s pretty tough to find ways to deal with them. One of the oldest forms, which on a large scale has been instrumental in shaping our history, is rebellion.
Malcolm Smith is taking a stand against the unfair legislation by refusing to comply. He’s going to sell bikes to Jeff Ward and Jeremy McGrath for their children; a seemingly simple act which may or may not bring down consequences on Smith’s 68-year-old head. His act of defiance has garnered some attention with an
article appearing in USA Today.
Losing more and more of our riding rights and privileges due to the irresponsible actions of a minority of riders has been a major issue for the OHV community. A push for self-regulation and a willingness to play by the rules has become increasingly popular, but in this case I doubt anyone in the industry is concerned with an open act of rebellious law-breaking. You sell those bikes, Malcolm.
Smith is one of the few men or women who have the political sway, financial ability and general popularity to pull this off with disregard for penalty. Whoever thought that selling a new dirt bike and making a kid’s dream come true would be a crime? Get real, CPSC.
