Craigslist Honda CR125 Bike Review

2003 Honda CR125
Can you get something comparable for half the price?
The rider triangle is confortable despite our larger testers who appreciate the lofty 39.3-inch seat height.
I’m putting together a fun bike test in the coming weeks. One of our buddies snagged a 2003 Honda CR125 off Craigslist for a cool five hundy and has gotten it running again. He picked it up with an empty rolling chassis and most parts in a box, but it’s together and we’re going to see how it stacks up against a new ring-dinger like the one we tested in the 2011 Yamaha YZ125 First Ride.

We’re just waiting on a few final touches like graphics and fresh dirt bike tires, but it’s going to be ready for review any day. The 125cc two-stroke has got to be the cheapest type of bike you can buy on CL, and arguably one of the most fun. We want to see if it’s even in the same ballpark as a new bike which costs over $6000. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, anybody have any thoughts on used bikes? It's still a great buyer's market out there, but is it worth it? Have any good used bike buying tips?

It's in a whole different league (or era), but I just bought a 1972 Suzuki TS185J, which is a 2 stroke duel purpose. It has been sitting in a garage forever and needs a little attention, but the ease of maintenance of a 2 stork definitely helped make the sale. Still, I won't be railing any whoops on this old bike, that's for sure! Great story concept. Looking forward to hearing more.
