Régis Laconi - Phillip Island
Regis Laconi leaves Kawasaki to try his luck with a Ducati in the DFX Corse Team.

Regis Laconi rode the Aprilia RSV in the 2001 WSBK championship to mixed results. While he put in several top ten finishes, he failed to make the top five consistently. Although he did nab a victory at Imola in Race 2 in ’01.

He was given the chance to develop the Aprilia GP four stroke in 2002. But MotoGP didn’t work our, so the French rider bounced back to WSB, where he excelled with Ducati. Injuries hampered him in 2005, and in 2006 he went to the PSG-1 Kawasaki team.

Laconi is looking to get his WSB career back on track, the French rider having finished as runner-up to the championship in 2004. Laconi has shown some promise during his now three-year tenure for PSG-1 Kawasaki, but it remains to be seen whether the ZX-10R is competitive platform.

After a frustrating 16th place finish in 2008 Laconi left the PSG-1 Kawasaki squad. Laconi is now one of many to campaign the 1098R as a privateer. The Frenchman rode for the DFX Corse banner for 2009, but suffered a major crash during the Kyalami round effectively ending his season.
