NBC will air the Granddaddy of all desert races, the 42nd annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, on Saturday, December 19th at 2 p.m. EST. For the sixth straight year, NBC will televise the Baja 1000 on NBC World of Adventure Sports before its telecast worldwide on ESPN International and Universal HD.

The Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is the final round of the five-race SCORE Desert Series, which includes two runs in Nevada and three in Baja. This grueling race begins in Ensenada and traverses the desert areas of the Baja peninsula. Teams from 14 countries and 39 states made up the initial 328 starters that raced motorcycles, ATVs, cars, buggies and trucks. The NBC footage includes aerial and POV shots, so viewers can witness what the legendary Baja 1000 is all about.

Viewers can also pick up the two-disc DVD set due out in early 2010, that includes the official race broadcast and the “Baja Unlimited II: Director’s Cut.” SCORE President Sal Fish and racer Cameron Steele will narrate this inside look at one of the most physically and mentally demanding races of the world. Never-before-seen footage will be highlighted from the past four years including a behind the scenes look at 2009.

So be sure to catch the broadcast and watch as the JCR/Honda Team crosses the line to its two-wheeled victory. Check out the video from JCR for a preview:
