James Stewart and Chad Reed collided last weekend. The result? Stewart finished the race, but Reedy was forced to DNF with a broken hand.
The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider had his left hand operated on, but the team reports that he is expected to miss at least six weeks. That would put the reigning AMA Motocross champion back on the track in time for the Ontario round.
“This will be the first time Chad has ever missed a Supercross,” said Reed’s team manager, Mike Fisher. “I know Chad wants to be racing. His surgery went really well and will start his rehabilitation as soon as he can. We want him to be 100 percent when he returns so he can put his Monster Energy Kawasaki on the podium.”
Reed fans will have to wait, but if you bleed green then his teammate, Ryan Villopoto, will be carrying the Kawasaki factory banner starting this weekend at Anaheim 2. Though bad news for Reedy, this opens the door for others to move up in the standings at the end of the year.
