Henry Wiles
Henry Wiles was able to take the lead from Jared Mees on Lap 10 and never looked back.

Round 4 of the AMA Pro K&N Grand National Championship rolled into Illinois on Saturday and with it came record-breaking heat at the Illinois State Fair Arena. The Defending GNC Champion Henry Wiles was able to continue his domination by pushing his Number 1 Kawasaki past the early leader, Jared Mees, on Lap 10 for the win.
Once Wiles took the lead he was able to gradually pull away for the win by almost five and a half seconds.
The National was pretty easy,” said Wiles. “I was just following Jared trying to stay smooth and all of a sudden the opportunity was there to take the lead.”

Behind Wiles there was a final struggle for second-place between Mees and Joe Kopp. On Lap 9, Kopp was able to slip by the number 28 bike of Shaun Russell, and immediately afterwards began his hunt for second place. On Lap 24 the Number 3 bike of Kopp prevailed and was able to separate himself from Mees by just eight tenths of a second. Russell, who was making his first appearance of the 2010 season, was barely able to maintain fourth-place as Kawasaki’s Bryan Smith applied tremendous pressure.

Bryan Smith
Bryan Smith came extremely close to making the pass on Shaun Russell but ultimately wasn’t able to and finished fifth.

Unable to complete the pass on Russell, Smith rounded out the top-five with fifth-place ahead of Honda’s Jake Johnson.
Honda’s Kenny Coolbeth and Johnny Lewis took seventh and eighth place, respectively, with Suzuki’s Mick Kirkness and Kawasaki’s Jesse Janisch rounding out the top-10.
Earlier in the evening the points-paying Dash for Cash went to Mees as he was able to get a quick lead during the short four-lap race ahead of Kopp and Russell.
Kopp currently leads the series by 10 points on top of Jake Johnson who sits in second with 70. Sammy Halbert and Henry Wiles remain just three and four points back respectively.

Pro Singles

JD Beach
JD Beach led the 12-lap event without incident and took first in Pro Singles at Springfield.

J.D. Beach led a 12-lap Pro Singles event which he dominated entirely. The number 95 bike of Beach was not the event’s main excitement, however.
In the event’s final lap the current series points, leader Jeffery Carver, was able to push his Yamaha all the way from fourth to second-place in just one lap.
Weirbach Racing / General Engineering’s Mike Martin and defending champion, Brad Baker, took part in what was a tense struggle for second-place. While their struggle ensued Carver was able to fly by on the final lap and steal second from the two Honda riders.
With his second-place finish Carver has extended his points lead in the AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com Pro Singles series to 12 points ahead of Baker.
