Taddy Blazusiak
Red Bull KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak took the victory in Round 1 of the EnduroCross series.

Defending EnduroCross champion Taddy Blazusiak took his KTM to a well-earned victory in Las Vegas on Saturday night during Round 1 of the 2010 Geico EnduroCross series. Rounding out the podium was Christini KTM’s Geoff Aaron and Husqvarna’s Cory Graffunder, who won a bitter fight for third with FMF KTM’s Mike Brown and Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Justin Soule.
Aaron set the fastest time in the Pioneer Hot Lap at the start of the day, earning the top gate pick. He also earned a $500 bonus award from Rekluse clutch after being the fastest with their hardware.
Earning the best gate picks out of their heat races were Blazusiak, Brown and Graffunder. In a shocking turn of events 2008 EnduroCross champion Ricky Dietrich failed to qualify for the main after crashing in the last chance qualifier. Joining the sidelined rider was Colton Haaker, who was last year’s E3 Spark Plugs Junior Champion.
At the start of the main it was Blazusiak out front to earn the $750 Girardi Wealth management holeshot award. He was quickly passed, however, by Aaron, and the two exchanged the lead multiple times around the track during the first half of the race. Making a small mistake and crashing in the Geico Rock Garden was Aaron, who handed a small lead over to Blazusiak which he managed to keep for the remainder of the race.
A battle for third took place between Graffunder, Brown, Soule, Gary Sutherlin, Kyle Redmund, and Cody Webb. In the end it appeared Webb would claim the final podium spot, but he crashed out in the Monster Energy water hole and Graffunder was quick to replace him. Riding a consistent race was Brown, who earned fourth-place ahead of Soule.
