Jessica Patterson - 2010 Womens Motocross Hangtown
Jessica Patterson rode to her fourth overall victory at Millville despite going down in the second moto.

In the MotoUSA.com WMX series it was DNA Shred Stix Yamaha’s Jessica Patterson taking the win in the opening moto followed by TLD Honda’s Tarah Geiger and Red Bull Honda’s Ashley Fiolek. After losing to Fiolek in the previous round at Red Bud, Patterson put on a strong ride to claim her seventh moto victory of the ’10 season by more than 25 seconds ahead of second place. Vicki Golden and Rock River Powersports rider Alexah Pearson rounded out the top-five in fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the second moto things got interesting as the women faced a muddy and torn up track. Taking the lead out of the gates was Fiolek, earning another MotoUSA.com holeshot award as Patterson gave chase to the Honda rider. Golden and Geiger were early victims of the track’s difficult terrain with both of them crashing during the opening lap. Patterson made an early pass on Fiolek for the lead just a few laps in, but the rough track conditions got the better of her also and she went down on Lap 7.
After being handed the lead, Fiolek kept an impressive pace throughout the competition despite the slippery conditions. Generating over a 15 second lead, Fiolek checkedout mid-way through and never looked back.
Despite going down in the opening lap, Golden and Geiger both returned to strong form by the closing laps, with Golden even making a brief pass on Patterson for second. By the end, however, Patterson recovered and finished first overall after achieving a 1-2 score. Taking the victory in Moto 2 and second overall was Fiolek, followed by Geiger in third with a 2-4 result. Golden put in a strong run in Moto 2 despite early misfortune to clench fourth. After making a pass on Mariana Balbi in Moto 2, Whitmore finished fifth in Moto 2 and fifth overall. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Sara Price took seventh at the end of the day after she finished seventh-place in both motos.
After a break the WMX series will return on August 28th at Southwick for Round 6 of the Championship.
