Having already won two X Games gold medals in Moto X Super X, Josh Hansen will be the man to beat in this year’s race.

The 16th edition of the X Games is rapidly approaching and this summer’s event will see a venue shift from the Home Depot Center near Long Beach to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the heart of Los Angeles, California.

The L.A. Coliseum is rich in sporting history having hosted plenty of premier sports events including the Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984. It has also held Superbowl football and World Series baseball championships. The Coliseum is also home base for the University of Southern California collegiate football squad.

In 1972 it hosted the first-ever Supercross race. July 29-31, the Coliseum will once again host motorcycle events including the Moto X Super X competition featuring three divisions: Men’s, Women’s, and an Adaptive Athlete class. Motocross racer Josh Hansen is the favorite to win as the 26-year-old won two consecutive gold medals in ‘08 and ‘09. He’ll also be competing in Best Whip and Speed & Style which will all be taking place inside the historic venue.

In addition to the strangely named Moto X Super X competition, the stadium will feature SuperRally rally car race. Non-motorized sports including, BMX Freestyle Big Air, Skateboard Big Air, and Skateboard Big Air Rail Jam competition will also take place at the same location.
