James Stewart plans on returning to AMA Motocross competition at Unadilla in upstate New York later this month.
After months of speculation, James Stewart has announced he will be contesting the remaining four rounds of the 2010 Lucas Oils AMA Motocross Championship. Stewart has been sidelined for much of this year due to the effects of a wrist injury sustained during Supercross competition this past season. He’ll be competing on the recently redesigned 2010 Yamaha YZ450F that he raced in Supercross.
Stewart will make his return at the Unadilla round taking place in New Berlin, New York on Saturday, August 14. This will be the first professional outdoor motocross race he’s taken part in since winning the championship in ’08 which saw him record wins in each and every moto giving him a perfect season.
Currently, reigning Supercross champ, Ryan Dungey holds a commanding 95 point lead with only eight races remaining this year. The big question on everyone’s mind is if Stewart will have the speed and endurance to compete with Dungey who has won the last seven motos.
