His insatiable thirst for life is only surpassed by his monthly fuel bill. Whether rocketing on land, flying through the air, or jumping the seas, our Road Test Editor does it all and has the scars to prove it.

Danny Eslick shows his Dirt Track background on the GEICO RMR Suzuki.
With his wild riding style, Danny Eslick has become a fan favorite aboard the GEICO RMR Suzuki.

After finishing in the runner-up spot in this year’s AMA Daytona Sportbike Championship, Richie Morris Racing / GEICO Powersports Danny Eslick has been re-signed to the team for the 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing season. He will compete on Suzuki’s recently redesigned 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 which you can read about in the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 First Look report.
“I’m excited to be working with my same team and crew again next year,” said Eslick. “Richie [Morris] has been great and I really want to ride the new 2011 GSX-R600, too. It sounds and looks like a great bike and certainly has a lot of potential. We’ve had a super run so far and hopefully we’ll be able to continue our momentum and do well again next year. This season we had a fantastic year defending the championship but came up just short against some great riders and teams. It was a blast with a lot of good battles on the track, but we’re looking to get the job done and win back the No. 1 plate again.”

The 24-year-old rider from Oklahoma won the 2009 Daytona Sportbike Championship in the inaugural season while competing aboard the now extinct V-Twin powered Buell 1125R. Most thought that the only reason he won the championship was due to the engine displacement disparity between the Buell and the Japanese Inline-Four 600s. However he proved naysayer wrong by collecting three wins this year and finishing no worse than seventh position over the course of the 18-race season. Over the last two years he’s developed quite the fan base based on his wild riding style and his charismatic personality off the track.

After winning the Daytona Sportbike Championship in 2009 and finishing in the runner-up spot this year, Danny Eslick will continue with the GEICO / RMR Suzuki team in 2011.

“My career really took off when I joined the team,” continued Eslick. “That was a big part of my decision to stay. It’s been a big step forward for me and we’ll continue to work together and build on the experience we’ve gained. One thing I know is that when I show up at the track, my guys have taken care of everything and that it’s up to me to go for it.”
“I think we’ve got a good thing going for next season with the same sponsor, team, and rider, along with a new and improved bike,” added team owner Richie Morris. “Danny has always had the talent and I think we just have a package that works. There are a lot of good riders and teams returning next year so it should be a dogfight up front in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike. Stay tuned!”
