His insatiable thirst for life is only surpassed by his monthly fuel bill. Whether rocketing on land, flying through the air, or jumping the seas, our Road Test Editor does it all and has the scars to prove it.

Recently we had the opportunity to visit Jeremy McGrath’s private Thing Valley Ranch. The property is situated on 700 acres of pure unspoiled land just east of San Diego, California. The reason we were there was the introduction of Honda’s latest 450 motocrosser which you can read about in the 2011 Honda CRF450R First Ride.

Words can barely describe how bad-ass his set-up is with The King having pretty much everything that a man could ever dream of. The estate is totally off the grid meaning that he’s got to supply his own electricity, water, and sewage. There’s no cell phone service either.

He’s got his own solar power set-up that’s capable of storing enough energy to power his entire farm without using the huge diesel generator which he has as well just in case. There are multiple wells on sight too so he’s got plenty of fresh water for his houses (he’s got multiple on site) and even more importantly his motocross track.

That’s right he has his own personal bad-ass motocross track built by Mennega Track Designs. The track cuts through the woods and is definitely more on the technical side as far as track layouts go. The soil composition is like nothing I’ve ever ridden on. It’s really powdery and even more fine than sand. He also has a RC car track, dirt runway (for his ultralight plane), golf and rifle range. Check out the photos and see how good it is to be The King.

One of the highlights of McGraths ranch is his awesome motocross track.
Shouldn’t everybody have their own motoross track?
