For the 2011 motorcycle riding season, motocross and off-road motorcycle gear manufacturer Thor continues to offer its hybrid Flux riding gear. This premium kit is designed for those dirt bike riders seeking the utmost in fit, comfort and ventilation. In addition to the updated colorways, the pants, jersey and gloves have been modified slightly to fit a broader range of rider body types.
Last season’s original Flux gear was engineered for slender pilots (which I loved). The pants were short in cuff length and featured a very slim fit through the thighs and hips similarly to a pair of modern designer jeans. The jersey and gloves were tailored in a similar fashion, too. While this was great for skinny guys, for most average and large-sized riders it wasn’t comfortable especially when you’re wearing bulky knee protection. Thor addressed this by refining the fit of the pant, jersey and glove.
Thor Motocross Flux Lazer Pants continue to be constructed from a 900D poly oxford material with perforation throughout the hip and leg regions. Ventilation panels are also neatly integrated into the thigh areas to help route cool air inside the pant. Leather inner knee panels protect the rider from the heat of the exhaust as well as hold up to the constant rubbing of the rider’s knee braces, if they are worn. Stretch-type spandura is also used in the knee areas to accommodate crouching-to-standing movements. The upper rear portion of the pant has Lycra paneling that contours to the rider’s body and prevents the pant from sliding down while riding. A conventional plastic zipper and plastic ratchet-style waist buckle fastens the pants to the rider and pants fit true-to-size at the waist.
Thor Motocross Flux Lazer Jersey is made from a lightweight mesh fabric comparable to an athletic jersey.
Thor Motocross Flux Lazer Jersey is made from a lightweight mesh fabric comparable to an athletic jersey. The entire jersey is ventilated and uses heavy perforation in both arms. Furthermore the cut of the arms tapers as it reaches the cuffless sleeve which provides a secure yet unencumbered fit. Thin padding is used in the elbow areas. The tail of the jersey has a silicone print which helps keep it tucked inside the pant.
Thor Motocross Flux Lazer Gloves is a constructed from a breathable mesh fabric. The palms are made using a synthetic leather material designed to be both durable and more supple than leather. It also repels water and is resistant to staining. Silicone strips on the palms and forefingers provide added grip. The cuff opening is elastic so it does away with a conventional Velcro enclosure.
Fit of the pant, jersey and glove is slightly larger as compared to the original stuff. The pant legs run a little longer and there is more room in the knee and thigh regions which is good for bigger folks, but not preferable for skinny dudes. However it still continues to fit snug in the hip areas which I like. Likewise the jersey is roomier throughout the chest,

stomach and arms. So much that you might be able to run a size smaller than normal. The gloves are also a bit roomier (and thicker) but not to the same degree as the jersey. We actually prefer the fit and upgraded construction of the new glove to the old one. Like before the overall construction of everything is on a very high level. The stitching has stayed together and we still haven’t worn through the inner knee areas which is impressive as this tends to happen often with other name brand gear after a handful of rides. The colors also haven’t faded through repeated washes. In terms of outright ventilation we’ve yet to wear gear that breathes better which makes it one our favorite brands of gear to wear in warmer temps.
